**Pattern Name:** Judiciary (The Court System)

**Introduction:** The judiciary is a comparator such that the situation being considered is compared to the governing laws which apply to that situation.

**CONTEXT:** When somebody within a community transgresses the rules which the community have agreed are the rules by which members live and this has been detected and referred to the formal system e.g. the police, then the judiciary picks up the situation and does the **comparison to the agreed rules**. If the transgression is proven then the miscreat is referred to the actuator for remediation and re-education.

**Notes:** The really interesting thing to me (JMP) is that the judicial system becomes a way of leaning and is a function of the community itself rather than a superior or distant metasystem.
